How To Make Sandwiches on a Stick

Not your average brown bag lunch, this sandwich-on-a-stick can be fully customized with the ingredients your kids love most.

Ingredients

1 bread slice (or bun, bagel, pita or croissant)
butter, cream cheese or pesto (optional)
½ cup (125 mL) cubed cooked meat, or 2 pieces deli meat, cut into thin strips
½ cup (125 mL) cubed hard cheese, or small bocconcini
¼ cup (50 mL) chopped bell pepper
¼ cup (50 mL) cherry tomatoes
¼ cup (50 mL) cubed cucumber
½ cup (125 mL) torn lettuce
bamboo skewers, splinters removed

Directions

1. If desired, spread bread with butter, cream cheese or pesto. Cut into 8 pieces.
2. With each skewer, spear bread, meat, cheese, pepper, tomato, cucumber and lettuce, repeating ingredients if desired and ending with a second piece of bread.
3. Tip: When preparing your ingredients, be sure to cut everything into similar-size pieces.
